Every Yogamatters prop begins with the same question: What would genuinely support someone’s practice?
The answer is rarely found in a single idea or the first sketch, but rather from listening, testing, refining, and listening again.
Every product starts life in our UK studio, where early ideas are explored through sketches and CAD drawings. Every measurement is considered, from the width of a bolster to the angle of a wedge, because we know that small details can make a meaningful difference in practice.
The designs are then shared with our production partners in Tamil Nadu, where the first samples begin to take shape and the ideas become something you can hold.
Each sample is tested, adjusted and tested again. We consider how it feels, supports the body, performs over time and how it responds to regular practice. Density, stitching, fabrics and finishes are all refined until they meet a standard we’d be happy to use ourselves.
One of the most important parts of the process involves inviting experienced yoga teachers to use each product in practice, sharing honest feedback about what works and what could be improved. Their experience shapes every refinement, helping us create props that aren’t simply well made, but genuinely useful.
It’s a collaborative process that stretches from our design studio in the UK to the workshops of Tamil Nadu and into yoga studios where teachers put every detail to the test.
By the time a Yogamatters prop reaches your practice, it has already passed through many hands, each bringing their own care, knowledge and experience.
Because good design isn’t about adding more, but understanding what matters and refining until only that remains.
