At Yogamatters, we understand the option to buy sustainable yoga clothing is an essential one. As such, we aim to provide a range of different styles and promote inclusivity by stocking a range of items from leading yoga brands no matter if you're in need of a best-selling set from Girlfriend Collective, or mix and match yoga clothing from Asquith. Each piece in our collection has been made and manufactured sustainably, with comfort and style in mind. We also have a range of accessories to complement your wardrobe, including headbands, socks, underwear and hats so that you can remain sustainably clothed from head to toe.

How should you dress for your first yoga session?
Your first yoga session won't be too intense and you won't be expected to do anything difficult or beyond your capabilities, so make sure to wear something comfortable and form-fitting. A pair of yoga leggings and a tank top is a great combination for breathability and comfort. Alternatively, you could choose to wear a pair of gym shorts or flared yoga pants if you prefer to wear a loose fit. Make sure that the clothing you wear allows you to move freely and has plenty of stretch to cater for your movements.

What not to wear to yoga?
Despite its low impact, some yoga styles can still be intense and cause you to work up a sweat. We would not recommend wearing thick materials that will trap heat and moisture. Additionally, it's not recommended to wear items with extra fabric that can cause irritation when tackling certain asanas, these items include hoodies and baggy t-shirts. You shouldn't wear anything that is restrictive or uncomfortably tight, as you'll need a full range of motion to complete your movements correctly.

Do you wear socks and shoes to yoga?
A lot of yoga practitioners like to remain barefoot during their yoga flows. Shoes can be quite restrictive and uncomfortable, and regular socks can be very slippy. However, if you need extra grip or do not want to attend a yoga class in your bare feet you might wish to use yoga socks. Yoga socks provide extra grip, and many people find them to be an essential yoga clothing item.
