A Partnership with Purpose – Yogamatters & HOPE
The Hope Foundation for Street Children (HOPE UK) is delighted to partner with Yogamatters in a shared commitment to creating positive impact and sustainable change.
Throughout this year-long partnership, we’ll be bringing you a range of activities to get involved and support HOPE’s work with street-connected and slum dwelling children and communities.
We look forward to sharing what’s planned and welcoming you to be part of this meaningful journey.
Your Support Can Make Twice the Difference
One of the first activities is an opportunity to make a donation at checkout to support HOPE’s Big Give campaign this December.
The Big Give is the UK’s largest match-funding campaign, meaning your donation has the potential to go twice as far. Funds raised will support HOPE’s vital Child Watch project in Kolkata, India.
Street-connected children face exploitation, abuse and limited access to education, healthcare and protection. Child Watch creates safe, child-friendly spaces, strengthens community action and helps children access education, skills and vital support — empowering them to build safer, brighter futures.
About The Hope Foundation (HOPE)
Since 1999, The Hope Foundation (HOPE) has been transforming the lives of vulnerable children and families in Kolkata, India. Through 60 projects — including 10 childcare centres, four crèches and a state-of-the-art hospital with mobile medical services — HOPE provides education, healthcare, protection, vocational training and emergency support to those most in need.
To date, HOPE has supported more than 3.3 million people, including over 115,000 children accessing education, 18,000 children protected from abuse and neglect, 12,000 young people receiving livelihood training, and 33,000 families supported through emergency programmes.
In 2025 alone:
- 46,262 individuals across Kolkata directly benefited from HOPE healthcare programmes, including more than 16,981 people treated through HOPE Hospital’s Inpatient and Outpatient Departments.
- 12,985 children received educational support through HOPE crèches, Naboasha centres, special education projects, educational sponsorship and the Quality and Inclusive Education Programme.
- 1,623 children and adults were protected from abuse and vulnerable circumstances through Residential Care and Child Watch projects.
- 736 young women and men engaged in vocational training, skills enhancement and income-generation programmes designed to support sustainable futures.
By equipping children and communities with skills, confidence and opportunity, HOPE helps create stronger futures for generations to come.
Shared Principles and Vision
Yogamatters is guided by the core principles of yoga, with a focus on accessibility, community and sustainability — values that closely align with HOPE’s approach.
Across HOPE’s global offices, one powerful vision unites the organisation: “A world where it should never hurt to be a child.”
The Hope Foundation for Street Children (HOPE UK) helps bring this vision to life by raising vital funds and awareness in the UK, supporting life-changing programmes for street-connected children and communities in Kolkata, India.
HOPE UK’s 20th Anniversary Year
In 2027, HOPE UK will celebrate 20 years of impact. The Yogamatters partnership will build on the incredible support we’ve received from the global yoga community over the years.
Led by esteemed yoga teacher and HOPE Patron Simon Low, the yoga community has played a vital role in raising awareness and funds for HOPE’s work.
Together, we look forward to building on this legacy and creating even greater impact in the years ahead.
Why support HOPE?
Thousands of street-connected children in Kolkata, India, face daily challenges that limit their access to education, protection, healthcare and social inclusion. Many grow up amid extreme poverty, addiction and neglect, increasing their vulnerability to child labour, early marriage, exploitation and school dropout.
As India's cities continue to grow, many people remain on the margins. Poverty can force children onto the streets to beg or work in informal labour simply to survive. Without access to education, healthcare, protection or legal documentation, their futures remain at constant risk.
HOPE works alongside these children, families and communities to create pathways towards safety, education and opportunity of a more secure future.
Yoga for HOPE
Each year, Yoga teachers around the world unite to hold classes, both in person and online, to support HOPE. On-demand classes are also available in return for a donation.
In 2024, HOPE UK was honoured to win ‘Favourite Yoga Charity’ at the Om Yoga Awards for the Yoga for HOPE campaign.
Yoga forms an integral part of the holistic wellbeing of the children in HOPE’s care in Kolkata, where the children in HOPE's care regularly practise yoga.

Yoga Garden Party
The Yoga Garden Party celebrated its 10th event in support of HOPE in August 2026, bringing together over 20 UK and international yoga teachers for a day of practice, wellbeing and connection at The Falcon at Castle Ashby, Northamptonshire.
Organised by HOPE Patron Simon Low and a dedicated volunteer team, and supported by Yogamatters, the event raised vital funds for HOPE while bringing the yoga community together through practice with a shared purpose: to make a difference.
Patrons and Ambassadors
Engagement with the yoga community is championed by HOPE Patron Simon Low. HOPE is also supported by many Ambassadors, including Jeremy Irons, Sue Perkins, Judi Dench, Andrea Catherwood and Shelley King.
