Standing Forward Fold (Uttanasana) is a foundational forward bend that stretches the hamstrings, calves and back body while encouraging length and release through the spine. Practised by folding forwards from the hips with the upper body releasing towards the legs, the pose can be adapted to suit different levels of flexibility. Props help bring the floor closer and provide support, allowing you to explore the fold without forcing the body deeper.
Use your bricks on a higher height setting for a more accessible version of standing forward fold, to reduce pressure on the back and alieviate tightness in the backs of the legs.
