Revolved Triangle combines balance with deep rotation, encouraging a sense of focus and precision as you lengthen and twist through the whole body.

Category: Standing / Twist / Balance

    Difficulty: Intermediate

    Sanskrit/Pronunciation: Parivrtta Trikonasana (par-ee-VRIT-tah trik-kon-AHS-uh-nuh)

Main Focus: Hamstrings, Hips, Spine, Core, Shoulders

    Props: Yoga Mat, Yoga Brick

Revolved Triangle Pose (Parivrtta Trikonasana) is a standing twist that combines balance, flexibility and stability through the whole body. Practised with both legs extended as the torso rotates over the front leg, the pose stretches the hamstrings and hips while encouraging rotation through the spine and opening the chest. A yoga brick can help bring the floor closer, providing additional support while you develop balance and mobility in the twist.

    How to Practise
    1. Start in a wide stance, about 3–4 feet apart
    2. Turn right foot out 90 degrees, left foot in slightly; square hips towards the right foot
    3. Inhale to lengthen spine, arms out to sides
    4. Exhale, hinge forward at the hips and reach left hand towards the right foot—placing it on the shin, a block, or the floor
    5. Extend right arm up towards the ceiling, stacking shoulders
    6. Gaze up to the top hand (or keep head neutral if neck is sensitive)
    7. Keep hips level and legs strong, drawing in through the core
    8. Hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then repeat on the other side

    Modifications
    • Use a yoga brick under the bottom hand to support the twist

    • Practise near a wall to assist with balance and alignment
    • Keep back heel lifted if it helps maintain proper form
