    Corpse Pose (Savasana)

Corpse Pose invites complete stillness and surrender, allowing the body and mind to absorb the benefits of your practice. It’s not about doing, it's about simply being.

    Category: Restorative / Relaxation

    Difficulty: Beginner

    Sanskrit/Pronunciation: Savasana (shah-VAHS-uh-nuh)

Main Focus: Full Body, Rest, Relaxation

Props: Yoga Mat, Bolster, Blanket, Eye Pillow

Corpse Pose (Savasana) is a deeply restful yoga pose traditionally practised at the end of a yoga session. Lying comfortably on the back with the arms and legs relaxed, the pose encourages the whole body to soften and release muscular effort. Props can provide additional warmth, cushioning and support, helping the body settle into stillness and remain comfortable during longer periods of rest.

    How to Practise
    1. Lie flat on your back, legs extended and comfortably apart
    2. Let arms rest alongside the body, palms facing up
    3. Allow feet to fall open naturally, and soften the entire body
    4. Close your eyes and bring attention to the breath
    5. Gently relax the jaw, shoulders, and abdomen
    6. Stay for 5–10 minutes, or longer if time allows
    7. To exit, begin with small movements (fingers, toes), then roll to one side and slowly return to a seated position

    Supported Savasana

Placing a folded blanket under the head and a bolster beneath the knees in Savasana creates a deeply supportive and relaxing variation of the pose. The blanket helps keep the neck and head comfortably aligned, while the bolster softens pressure on the lower back by gently elevating the legs. This setup encourages the whole body to release tension more easily, making relaxation feel more natural and restorative.
