What does a typical day look like for you?
A green juice (all veg) or fennel tea to begin, everyday! I also can’t get my day started without a mantra meditation and some journaling or visualising. Being self-employed means no two days look the same, and keeping myself accountable has been super challenging, but I enjoy the act of ticking things off a list to feel a sense of accomplishment. So first things first is making that list. Asana practice or content creation usually comes next – at the moment my days have been filled with planning and filming content for my online platform which will be launching soon! I like to keep an hour or two free for admin and outreach too. A walk in the afternoon with my dog usually helps my creative brain, so I try to make this a daily habit. I like to go to the gym and sauna twice a week. Evenings are often spent winding down, eating, and seeing friends and family, unless there is an event! On days I am teaching, the structure of the day varies, but I like to keep my morning and rituals the same, usually ending with red light and mantra meditation again!
How did your yoga journey begin and what inspired you to become a yoga teacher?
My journey began 11 years ago after a skydiving incident. I fractured my lumbar spine upon landing and was told the only way to fix my injury was to have major surgery which I didn’t want to proceed with at the time. I started seeking alternative methods of healing, and yoga was recommended to me by a few people. After a few YouTube classes, I felt a huge shift in my mind and the physical practice was helping me to ease the symptoms of my injury. I began exploring how yoga not only helps us physically, but mentally and emotionally too. As someone who had suffered with anxiety and depression from the age of ten, I became fascinated with yoga – it seemed to be the key I have been looking for my entire life. I wanted to help people explore the practice and engage with it for not only their physical wellbeing, but their mental wellbeing too. So, I took a leap of faith and went to Thailand to complete my 200 hour yoga teacher training, and haven’t looked back since!
What inspired you to specialise in your practice?
The effects that yoga was having on my physical, mental and emotional wellbeing for sure. But after digging deeper into the true roots and traditions of the practice, I became inspired by the tools it provides us with for self development and for self-awareness. After a few years of being exposed to modern day yoga, and thinking yoga was all about asana, it became evident to me that yoga was more than just stretches. As someone who grew up as a Hindu, in an Indian household, even I didn’t make the connection of the yoga I practiced growing up (which involved mantra chanting and devotional practices – rather than physical poses), with the yoga that is presented to us in the western world. I soon made it my goal to help people understand the true purpose behind the practice.
How have you seen your practice benefit your students?
It has helped them to engage with yoga as a holistic tradition, rather than an exercise based on stretching and advanced postures. Sharing the roots of yoga in an accessible and digestible way has allowed them to integrate the ancient traditions and philosophies of yoga that are seldom spoken about, into their modern day practice.
Tell us about your book, A Beginner’s Guide to The Roots of Yoga…
It’s literally the book I wish I had before I began my yoga journey! The tradition of yoga is so vast and so deep, that many beginners shy away from the roots of the practice because there is so much to learn. I believe that a large part of the issues that surround yoga in modern day is because people just don’t know how or where to begin. This book is an answer to all the questions you might have as a beginner to yoga, or even someone who has a practice but wants to dive a little deeper in the roots and history of it. Because of the overwhelming amount of knowledge on yoga out there, I thought it was essential to provide the world with a foundation for yoga. Not only a foundation, but a starting point to creating an authentic and all rounded yoga practice – one that provides key pieces of knowledge from a traditional perspective. And trust me when I say it was not easy breaking down key concepts that have been around for thousands of years! But it is certainly a much needed book for every seeker on the path of yoga.
What is your favorite quote or life motto?
Always be you, everyone else is taken.
What’s coming up for you in 2026?
An online platform for sure! I’ll also be facilitating a 20 hour yoga teacher training alongside the lovely Rebecca Moore. More in person Sacred Rest retreats, and my 10-week journey to the Roots of Yoga, which is an online course for teachers who want to incorporate traditional teachings into their modern day practice. Other than that, I'll leave it to god to guide me where I need to be…2025 has been challenging to say the least!
