Tell us a bit about your background and your yoga journey…
Hey, I’m Jade, founder of wellness studio Calm + Chaos, based in Edinburgh. I’m a Reiki Master, meditation and breathwork guide, and I created Calm + Chaos to act as a bridge between modern spirituality, psychology and science. Through classes, immersive experiences and 1:1 sessions, my work is all about guiding people inward, away from the noise of daily life and into presence.
That’s really where my love for yoga began.
In my early 20s, I developed a deep meditation practice that completely shifted how I wanted to move my body. Living in East London at the time, I was surrounded by incredible studios and I fell in love with both Vinyasa and Yin. Yoga quickly became a daily ritual, something I returned to morning and night as an anchor. My career in the creative industry at that time was fast-paced and intense, but yoga brought me back to stillness.
What started as a way to challenge my body became something far more meaningful. On the mat, connecting to my breath and learning to listen intuitively, I found a sense of self-love and acceptance that I hadn’t experienced before. It gave me space to quiet my mind and come home to myself.
What inspired you to open Calm + Chaos and when did you open the space?
Calm + Chaos began as a pop-up concept, allowing me to create meditative experiences in unique, unexpected spaces across the UK (mainly Edinburgh, Glasgow and London). The inspiration came from a desire to make spirituality feel more accessible, grounded and relevant to modern life. I love exploring how our environment can influence our practice.
In September 2025, I opened a six-month pop-up studio in an empty shop in Edinburgh and completely fell in love with the energy of the space and the community that formed around it. Six months was never going to be enough, so I extended it into a permanent lease. I’m really excited to see how the studio continues to evolve.
What is your mission with Calm + Chaos?
The mission behind Calm + Chaos is to make spirituality accessible.
It’s about creating daily rituals and experiences where people feel seen, safe and supported as they explore their inner world - whether that’s through movement, breath, energy work or conversation. Everything we offer is designed to help people reconnect with who they are beneath the noise, build self-awareness and move through life with more intention.
At its core, it’s about balance and duality. Honouring both the calm and the chaos within us.
How is Calm + Chaos different from other wellness spaces?
Calm + Chaos primarily explores wellness through a spiritual lens. It’s grounded, accessible and inclusive, and exists to make modern spirituality relatable rather than overwhelming.
We blend practices like meditation, breathwork, Reiki and movement with gentle elements of psychology and community conversation. It’s not about fitness, distraction or escaping your life for that hour, but instead it’s about learning how to be in it more fully.
Everything we offer is designed to guide you inward, so that your external world begins to reflect that inner shift.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of opening their own wellness space or studio?
My journey started five years ago, when I began renting different spaces and exploring what truly goes into building a beautiful, functioning studio. I’ve learned that the most impactful spaces are the ones that feel honest and unique to the person creating them. You can always feel when something is built from authenticity rather than simply following a trend.
So start with intention. Ask yourself, how do you want people to feel from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave?
It’s easy to get caught up in how a space looks (and I definitely spent too long worrying about it not feeling “ready” enough aesthetically), but what truly makes a space is how it feels. Durable equipment, scent, texture and mood lighting are a great starting point.
But most of all, build a community, not just a business. That’s what will sustain it.
Do you have a quote or mantra that you live by?
If I can overthink the worst case scenario, then I have the ability to overthink the best.
It’s simple, but it underpins everything I do. There’s always an invitation to shift your perspective
