If you’ve been contemplating about making your lifestyle much more curated and considerate, look no further than a brand that is taking this thinking to a new level: Thought Clothing, is one brand that makes it look easy to change our everyday habits and turn them into mindful moments. We chat with the founder, Rachel Kelly about what makes London a hub for creativity and sustainability, how to make things mindfully and her favourite ways to spark inspiration during a busy week.
What does creativity mean to you? How do you define it? What inspires you to be creative?
“To me, creativity is how to express the beautiful things I am inspired by in everyday life. I take inspiration from art, the natural world and the incredible women around me.”
Where do you live at the moment? How has this changed over the pandemic if at all? What does your city offer to you as a maker?
“I live in North London with my husband and children. London is a thriving city which is a hub for inspiring fashion. It’s great to see more and more sustainable initiatives put in place too. It was sad for everyone to see the city shut down during the pandemic, so it’s felt great to be re-united with our team in the office again.”
Are there other places in the world that inspire you, why?
“Sydney, Australia as this is the source of Thought’s very beginnings!”

How did you get into this industry? What was your first job?
“I was previously making Hemp shirts and working as a junior buyer.”
Why is it important for consumers to continue to seek out mindful and inclusive brands? What can they do to further support?
“It’s about recognising that even small changes can make a big difference and making that conscious effort to make smarter choices. Here at Thought we are constantly looking for exciting brands who are doing great things in the sustainability space to stock on our website.”

Why is mindful and sustainable manufacturing important?
“It’s so important to find a process that minimises negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. Sustainable manufacturing also improves employee, community and product safety. We make sure our manufacturing achieves the highest ethical standards, so we are always looking to find new ways and processes that ensure we meet this, and I see that continuing.”
Finish these sentences: “Always …” and “Never …”
