Introducing meditation into your daily routine is a brilliant way to lighten your mood and help you to feel more positive for the year ahead – especially if you’ve been suffering from a case of the January Blues. Perhaps you’re busy with work, so you don’t feel you have the time to meditate. Or perhaps you’re a beginner to the world of mindfulness and meditation so you don’t feel comfortable meditating without guidance.
Well, guess what, neither of these things should be holding you back, because meditation can be performed at any place and at any time. In fact, it’s now even easier to relax and reflect on the go with new sound meditation and mindfulness app, THIRD EAR.
Realised by Swiss-born Leo Cosendai, the celebrated London-based sound meditation teacher, the THIRD EAR mobile app is accessible to individuals of all experience levels. In fact, this app is there to give you an experience of meditation rather than make it an elusive learning process.
Featuring a large selection of gong sound baths, mantra chants, pranayama breathing exercises and original mindful meditations, the app allows users to create their own personalised playlists, meditate by mood and record personal progress.
Whether you need one minute to clear your mind during a stressful day at work, or prefer to enjoy a full 45 minutes of meditation before bed in the evenings, THIRD EAR’s ‘Sound Cave’ has a library full of sounds and exercises to suit your schedule.
We had to give it a try, here’s how Chloe from the Yogamatters team got on…
“I usually use Headspace for meditating on my own but I can’t seem to keep it up consistently. Luckily with THIRD EAR, I feel like I may have found just what I needed to help me keep it up!
I have been to Leo’s gong meditation bath workshops a number of times, so when I heard he had launched an app, I couldn’t wait to try it! The way Leo works with sound, breath and mindfulness takes it to another level that standard mindfulness just doesn’t reach.
One of my favourite things about the app is the personalised ‘Meditate By Mood’ section. Simply input how long you have from 5, 10, 30 and 45 minutes and then select what you need, from sleep, on the go, wake-up, relaxation, energise, stress etc. Finally choose what you are in the mood for from instrumental to voice to both. The genie then pulls a meditation from the system for you. As the app has so much on offer, you are bound to build up a list of favourite go to meditations. However, sometimes it is nice to just sit back and let Leo’s system tell you what you need.
In summary, I am not only pleased to have the app on my phone but am also slightly hooked on THIRD EAR. Not only does the app provide an immersive experience in the comfort of your home, but it also has a variety of meditations that I have added to my ‘first aid kit’ to help give me a boost and support my mind through whatever it needs. Even the illustrative branding of the app makes it feel like a magical hub to dive into for a few minutes during, before or after a hectic day. I am in this one for the long haul!”
Delve into the powerful experience of sound meditation with this accessible, informative and easy-to-use app- a piece of peace wherever you go. THIRD EAR is available to download for FREE from the Apple App store, or you can sign up online through the website and benefit from New Year offers until January 31st.
