Savasana Poem: Free to Simply be Simply me

Savasana Poem: Free to Simply be Simply me

A defined time. One hour.

A defined space. This studio. This mat.

For this hour on this mat in this studio, I have nowhere else to be.

For this hour on this mat in this studio, I have nothing else to do.

This is it.

This is simply me and I can simply be.

As I arrive, I take off my coat.

I leave my phone and keys at the door.

I take off my shoes and socks and step barefoot onto the mat.

I have everything that I need within myself.

This is it.

This is simply me and I can simply be.

As I step onto my mat, I leave behind all my relationships and responsibilities and cares.

The only relationship that matters right now is my relationship with myself.

The only responsibility I have right now is to myself.

The only person I have to care about right now is myself.

This is it.

This is simply me and I can simply be.

All that I have to work with in this moment is all that I am in this moment.

Whatever I own does not impress. My possessions count for nothing.

Money and status and success are meaningless. My qualifications count for nothing.

Everything is stripped away.

This is it.

This is simply me and I can simply be.

I come as I am.

There is nowhere to hide. There is nothing to hide behind.

This is me. Simply me. This is real.

This is me and my breath. My life force, my energy, my strength.

This is it.

This is simply me and I can simply be.

As I move through my practice, I engage fully with the present.

I let go of all that is past.

I let go of all that is to come.

All that is in this moment is this breath, this movement, this pose.

This is it.

This is simply me and I can simply be.

And that is why this time and this space are so precious.

Because time has no meaning and the to-do list is laid to one side.

Because everything else ceases to matter.

Because I switch off from everything that is going on in my life.

Because this is it.

Because this is simply me and I can simply be.
