Manduka's most durable, high performance and eco friendly mat, the Eko mats are made from naturally grippy tree rubber for the ultimate combination of cushion and grip.

Developed over 3 years by a team of yoga teachers, the top surface has a naturally 'grippy' 'sea grass' surface texture, which also has a closed-cell surface to keep moisture from seeping into the mat.

The dual function cushion (bottom layer) is a thicker natural rubber with superior cushioning that is achieved by a toxic-free softening process, free of foaming agents and plasticisers found in other mats.

The stretch-resistant scrim (center) usese biodegradable cotton and recycled polyester blend to bind the top and bottom layers together with heating process, eliminating need for toxic glues.

Due to the properties of natural rubber, all rubber mats have a certain smell. However, Manduka’s eKO mat has been engineered so that the initial scent fades over time with use. The smell will dissipate within 2-3 weeks, or sooner if you leave your mat unrolled when storing. To speed up this process, you can also wipe the mat down with a solution of 50/50 organic cider vinegar and water or Manduka’s mat restore (a vinegar based solution). It is important to note that the smell is natural and not a result of off-gassing from toxic chemicals.

Really lovely mat with good texture and feel, also feels substantial enought to withstand heavy duty long term treatment. Takes a while for smell to dissipate but after that its ok.

Very comfortable and supportive. It cushions the knees nicely during lunges! Also offers excellent grip. The smell does take a while to get used to and I am sure it will disappear soon. The advice to wipe with a damp cloth prior to use really does work. A little heavier than other mats I have had but it's a nice mat for home practice.

This is the best mat I have ever bought and I have been buying yoga mats for the last eight years. As a Yoga Teacher, I need a mat which is durable and can take heavy usage. I've finally found it! If there are any drawbacks for this mat it is quite heavy to carry around and the natural rubber smell is quite strong at first but leaving the mat out in between practices has helped reduce the smell. I recommend this mat to anyone who is a serious Yoga practitioner and who wants value for money. It's also environmentally friendly .... Bonus!

I was very excited when I bought this mat...having read the reviews and also the description of how it has been so lovingly manufactured. I have been using it now for over a year and unfortunately it has to be one of the worse mats I have ever used. I slip and slide all over it...warriors, downward dogs etc and it also gets dirty very easily. It is the first time that I have bought such an expensive mat too...so it has been a real disappointment. I use it every day for both my own practice and also teaching so it gets a lot of heavy use. I am now looking to buy another mat because it does not fulfill my needs and I am tired of slipping when demonstrating in front of my students.

I was really surprised about this mat...in a good way. First of all in my yoga life till now, I have used many different mat, eco ones and pvc ones, and this one is so far the best. The surface is not so rough and hard as those from Jade but very firm while moving from one posture to another...even when it is wet!! Also the smell isnt so strong compare to others. Another good point is that it is easy to clean..which I do appreciate..I cant look into my Jade eco mat after using it for couple of times..... It is a good mat for using at home or studio, but for traveling ... it is a bit too much...especially for a girl. But anyway, it is so far the only Eco mat I will suggest to my students with a bit more budget. :)

I have just started the wonderful journey of yoga but hated using other people's mats. I wanted a good solid mat which would not allow me to slip all over the place. I purchased a manduka mat and am so pleased with it. No sliding! I highly recommend this mat and it comes in great colours.
