ecoYoga mat - 4mm

ecoYoga mat - 4mm

An amazing yoga mat - and environmentally sound. The pure rubber underside grips the floor, with a jute fabric/rubber mix on top (the practice side). The fabric gives a tactile and pleasantly natural surface to work on and the rubber gives superb grip. This mat combines a cloth surface and sticky mat in one. Machine washable.
This mat was designed by and for Ashtanga Yoga practioners. It is suitable for all styles of practice. Due the nature of the materials, if the mat is subject to very heavy use, it may degrade quicker than some other, less eco-friendly mats. Contains latex. Biodegradable.

These are excellent yoga mats. They have jute interwoven into them which gives them an excellent grip and makes them suitable for a hot sweaty practice! Plus they are made in the UK.

The best mat in the world, ever! This is the only mat I have ever found that I can confidently practice downward dog on without slipping down onto my face. And it's eco friendly, and looks nice too - what more could you ask for?!

It's environmentally friendly, comfy, and provides a good grip, feels like a substantial good quality mat

I've had this mat for a couple of years, and for the past year it has been bio-degrading all over my clothes. At the end of every practice, I am absolutely covered in white 'fluff' where the mat is falling apart. A real pain.

The mat your customer, Sarah mentions would have been made a couple of years ago, by our previous suppliers... we did have some similar comments and took steps to address - the mat is now made by another factory and using a superior jute and rubber mix. To date we have not had this 'shedding' experience since changing supplier, but we are open to all feedback and experiences so do let us know if you hear to the contrary with the newer mats.

I've had my eco mat for 3 years now, and even with regular use it's still in great condition. It's a great thickness for comfort, and the hessian does provide a great non-sticky surface for grip, so unlike other mats your feet don't tend to slip when they perspire. The only downside to this mat is that I don't like lying in child's pose with my forehead on the mat surface because it leaves texture marks on my skin, but I always have a blanket handy for that. I would definitely buy one again.

I loved this mat when it was new. It provides perfect grip even when you sweat a lot during a demanding class. But after little more than six months it started to bio-degrade. I bought the red, er sorry, the fuchsia coloured mat and my legs are now covered with little red particles after every class. I practice about four times a week, maybe that's too much and it's only a Sunday mat?

Having had my Eco mat since August (its now November) i'm quite upset that it's shedding its latex content all over me as i practice... Its like dandruff for my shorts, i have to use a dust-pan and brush after each session.. This i feel is a shame... As from any other perspective its a good product.. I'm not awfully keen on the consistent smell of Latex rubber either BUT, i could put up with smelling like a condom to be envorinmentally aware, but £30 plus for a mat that's starting to degrade in month 4 of use I can't deal with.. please consider another mat... I won't be buying another :(

Can't comment on wear just the colour and smell. Very dark compared with the photo on the site more like purple than lavender. The smell is rather overbearing. I would not purchase another mat like this one.

We have made all the changes possible to upgrade the mat without compromising the chemical free nature of the compound. Adding chemicals would potentially prolong the compounds compact state but would be a contradiction of intention for the company. The smell is also something we worked on. Latex has a distinct aroma and some people don't like any quantity of it. We encourage users to wipe down with water which will take away excessive odour and of course keep the mat aired. Ultimately if one is sensitive to the smell the mat will not work for that person. These mats are unique and are made quite outside the norm of factory procedure. They are slow processing and not mass produced in the thousands from cheap synthetic material. Waste is kept to an absolute minimum. Made in the UK too. All these add to the cost of making.

This is my second Ecoyoga mat over the past 4 or so years and I really love this mat. I teach so am using it practically every day. I love that it is completely non-slip due to its texture, and that when it begins to degrade that it is recyclable. I have not had any issues with either premature degradation or excessive latex odour. I also like that I can just throw it into the washing machine with no problems.

Just to clarify that I ordered this yoga mat in green because it seemed a light green, quite pleasant colour. However, what a big surprise when I recevied it and the green was not light at all, but quite dark and rather dirty-water like looking... not very pleasant when you think about relaxing on it... of course colour is not the most important part of a yoga mat, and I hope it will turn out to be a good one, so good I won't care about the colour, but for the time being I am very disappointed :-(

I practice ashtanga, so I sweat a lot and need a mat with grip - this is the first mat I haven't had to put a cloth mat over to practice, and my practice is way better as a result - it gives a really good, solid base. I haven't used it for long, so I don't know about durability, but so far I'm really happy. Thank you!

Finally treated myself to this lovely mat. It's slightly longer than the standard variety, has good gripping properties and comes without the overbearing smell associated with PVC. However, as you might expect, it does smell of latex. I personally don't mind this at all and imagine it will diminish with time. So far I'm delighted with the mat and would thoroughly recommended it.

Its VERY rough on the hands and feet. It hurts when rolling the toes. It will do with much more cushioning.
