Homemade Turmeric Face Mask

Homemade Turmeric Face Mask

There’s no need to spend huge amounts on beauty products that are often filled with toxins when it’s so simple to make your own at home. With just a few simple ingredients from the kitchen, you can make a mask that will leave your skin feeling soft and glowing.

I love the feeling of going to a spa for skin treatments and it’s easy to recreate that feeling at home. It’s a huge time saver and means you can take the time to look after your skin more often.

When you make your own products you can be confident that they are 100% natural and it isn’t going to do anything harmful to your body. This mask only takes a couple of minutes to prepare and all the ingredients are so good for you you can even eat them.

Turmeric is a wonderful spice to not only cook with but to use in beauty products. It helps with inflammation and to even out your skin tone. Turmeric masks can help if you have scars or eczema, helping to reduce redness and promote healing.

Honey is an anti-bacterial and is wonderful to moisturize the skin. The coconut milk is soothing and with all these ingredients combined together it works wonders on your skin.

Due to the yellow colour, you’ll probably think you look a little funny while you have it on, but once you wash it off, your skin will feel great.

Turmeric is a spice that can stain so be sure you remove it all from your face before wiping with a towel. I go over my face with a cotton pad to make sure it is all removed. The first time you use it you might find it a little messy until you get used to it so be sure to wear and old t shirt in case it gets stained.

If you are worried that the turmeric will stain your face don’t worry it won’t, it will leave it looking fresh and bright. If you are having trouble removing all of the turmeric from your face, just add a small amount of lemon or apple cider vinegar to a cotton ball and go over your face in a circular motion to remove. It’s important to get it all off so that you don’t stain your bedding and towels.

If you are vegan and want to enjoy the benefits of the turmeric mask without using honey, you can add a small amount of oil such as almond or avocado oil to provide your skin with the moisturising element.

Be sure you try this mask when you can relax and really enjoy it. I like to apply it to my face and then soak in a warm bath for 20 minute or so. After using this mask your skin will feel incredibly soft and look radiant!

Ingredients

2 tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon honey

3 tablespoons coconut milk

Directions

  1. Add the turmeric and flour into a small bowl.
  2. Add the coconut milk to the bowl and mix well until smooth.
  3. Stir in the honey until well combined.
  4. The consistency should be a thick paste that will stick to your face easily.
  5. You can apply it with your hands but if you have a small paint brush it will be much easier to apply.
  6. Leave the mask on your face to dry for around 20 minutes. Wash your face well with warm water and dry gently with a face cloth. If you have any face mask remaining, you can store it in the fridge in an airtight container for a few days and use it the next time.
