This is a great workshop for families and friends who want to learn self-massage techniques in a great environment with professionals massage therapists. In this workshop, we divide the participants in small groups so that they may learn self-massaging techniques that can be used to massage your hands, feet, face and head. All massage lessons will be given with full clothes on so there is no need to bring in any towels. 2 people can book together to work in a group or you can register alone and you’ll be assigned with a random participant.

The workshop would also have a small section dedicated to chair massage techniques. Also, electronic massage chairs like the  Kahuna LM6800 would also be present in the workshop.

The workshops are also filled with theoretical classes that explain the right movements and places one should massage on. And how a simple ritual of self-massage can be beneficial in our daily life.

Unity Partner Yoga™ Teacher Training is a 7-day postgraduate diploma recognised by the Independent Yoga Network as a Post Qualifying course. The diploma is open to existing yoga teachers (or those soon to train/certify).

Created and taught by Sevanti, this is the only IYN-recognised Partner Yoga course, and the first Partner Yoga training that we know of in Europe, being established in 2012.

This course offers an extensive range of partner yoga asanas for duos, trios and groups. The focus of this course resides in qualities of trust, presence, authenticity, connection, giving & receiving, nurturance, acceptance and surrender. Unity Partner Yoga™ is a sacred practice, of release and rejuvenation, it can also be a gateway to a much lighter form of yoga with plenty of fun and laughter too!

What is Unity Partner Yoga™?

Unity Partner Yoga™ is the poetic movement of two or more people dancing through yoga asana together.

It is appropriate for all ranges of experience, and all relationships from friends to partners, and children to pregnant women. Unity Partner Yoga™ is a deep, restorative, playful and sacred practice of Yoga. It can awaken an inner oasis of deep peace, where we relate with another, and with our self, through truth, trust and tenderness.

Through joint- back/forward bends, spirals, inversions and balances, we can gain more strength, balance, endurance, elasticity and fluidity. By allowing another person to guide us deeper into our individual possibilities, we often reach new realms of openness and softness. We share the give and take of being active or passive in a pose, and understand more about alignment and safety. We can learn so much by assisting our partner, often find ourselves in a range and depth of asanas we do not easily experience alone. We can also become more conscious of caring communication. All of these aspects help with how we relate, by being authentic and responsive to our own needs, whilst recognising and allowing space for the requirements of another.

Practicing with a partner raises the necessity of clear and honest communication and feedback. Not only must one be responsible for oneself, but equally, we can expand our awareness and sensitivity to our partners needs too.

The Diploma

An in-depth postgraduate training that will give you the skills to teach Unity Partner Yoga™ to a range of ages and abilities.

Six days of practical training forming 3 x 2 day weekends and 1 further day. Students present a 30 minute class on the final day.

Sessions start on the Friday at 10am until 6pm, and Saturday and Sundays will be from 9.30am-6pm.

This teacher training is open to teachers and yogic practitioners of three years or more.

Non-yoga teachers may also apply. In this case a certificate will be held for 2 years after the PYTT and given if a general YTT is completed in that time.

Recognition and possible membership from the IYN (this can only be given to those that are already certified yoga instructors)

A daily yoga class, led by Sevanti (individual practice). Theoretical investigation into the meaning of Unity and the concept of partner yoga, partner massage and relaxation, moving meditations, group sharing and partner-listening, extensive practical exploration & understanding.

The Unity Partner Yoga™ Teacher Training (IYN) will be held at Unity Studio. This peaceful haven has a small equipped kitchen providing basic cooking facilities and complimentary herbal teas. The venue is also equipped with Yoga mats, bolsters, backjacks, blocks, belts, eye pillows and blankets. There is also free wifi available. A pretty courtyard garden is often used for study and breaks. There is free parking nearby on Hartington Road and plenty of buses outside.

Tutor: Sevanti

Preceding her creation of Unity Partner Yoga ™ in 2002, Sevanti had established her Yoga Teacher Training & Holistic Massage Training School in Brighton. She had previously trained extensively in Dance, gaining a BA(Hons) in Dance Theatre at the Laban Centre, London.

Her interest in authentic movement and meditative dance continued throughout her practice of 5Rhythms and training in Biodanza. Her massage, bodywork and healing practice also contributed to a sacred and sensitive research into the relationship between mind, body, emotions and spiritual connection. Sevanti grew deeply interested in working with others through movement and bodywork, and started exploring the connection of two people practicing Yoga asana together. Her experience in contact improvisation, choreography, yoga, sufi and tantric practices became a melting pot for what emerged as Unity Partner Yoga ™.

In the early days of 2000, Sevanti spent extensive hours researching and practicing with her friend Sarah Jennings. Sevanti started teaching her practice in 2002, demonstrating her creation of Unity Partner Yoga ™ at the ‘Yoga Show’ in 2003.

Since then, she has taught it across the world, created DVDs and established the first Unity Partner Yoga ™ Training Diploma (IYN) in Europe. Sevanti is passionate about making Partner Yoga acessable, and ensuring that the practice remains sacred and meditative. It is a beautiful practice to perform together, however the primary concern is to ensure connection and support rather than to create aesthetically pleasing images and entertainment.

She is currently working on an extensive book, and continues to teach at various events, retreats, and from her Brighton based Unity studio.
